"The Mummy" was one of those movies a lot of people paid little attention to until it came out. I will be honest with you. I didn't even watch it until the second movie was about to be released. When I saw Rachel in "The Mummmy" my reaction was like "WOW! Who is SHE?"

Rachel plays a half-Egyptian/half-English woman who has lived a privileged sheltered life. Of course, she wants more than that, as her passion is history and archaeology. Little does her character, Evelyn Carnahan (Evy), know that she is about to step onto the stage of world history when she meets up with a ragged American outcast named Rick O'Connell.

Together with Evy's brother Jonathan, Rick and Evy take on an ancient powerful magician, Imhoptep, whose evil deeds were so vile he was cursed with eternal un-life. "The Mummy" brought back pulp action adventure movie-making unlike anything since "Indiana Jones".
